Lisa Marie & Michael's Wedding
Lisa Marie Presley, and her band's guitarist/music producer Michael Lockwood wed at a private inn in Kyoto, Japan (one of Lisa's favorite vacation spots) on Jan. 22, 2006.
16 guests, which included Michael's parents, Vivian and William Lockwood, donned custom-fitted kimonos at the sunset ceremony, where Lisa Marie who is 38, and Michael Lockwood who is 44 (they started datingin '03) performed a Japanese sake ritual after exchanging traditional vows.
Lisa Marie's mom Priscilla, walked her down the aisle and gave her away. Lisa Marie's daughter Riley was maid of honor and son Benjamin was a groomsman. The best man was Presley's first husband (father to Riley and Benjamin) and Michael's pal, Danny Keough.
Lisa Marie's wedding planner, Kara Keaney said Lisa Marie was "adamant about not making a big deal out of it". She wanted an intimate gathering of family and friends.
At the reception, guests were entertained by a string quartet and a 30-minute showcase performed by 3 local geisha. "They played (the samisen) and sang and danced for us" stated the wedding planner for Lisa & Michael.
The newlywed's dinner lasted more than 3 hours. It was a 9-course feast complete with fried flounder, mackerel sushi, deep-fried crab, yellowtail with foie gras and rice dumplings with lobster and green soup. Each course was written up in gold calligraphy on menus decorated with a gold, fan-shaped charm. Matching place cards featured red and gold ribbons decorated with cranes, which symbolize longevity.
Lisa and Michael's cake was a vanilla buttercream dessert which featured the character for congratulations and long l life.
